With the unibody painted a single stage Wimbledon
White we have reached a point in the restoration where we really
appreciate the time spent in preparation. This included addressing
all sheet metal, damage done when this Shelby was raced and countless
hours of block sanding.
At this point there still remains wet sanding and
buffing.
Also note, the engine compartment (semi gloss
black) was not applied until after the body paint. |

As nice as this looks we are definitely not
finished, the Le Mans stripes still need to be added. This process will
be affected as follows; the entire front clip, and trunk lid (with rear
valance) will be hung on the vehicle, the Le Mans stripes taped off
(laid out) and then painted. Note:
History says Shelby only painted Le Mans stripes on two cars for photo
ops - everything else was dealer installed. So for the purist - he
may not want Le Mans stripes as this was not how the vehicle would have
left the Shelby American factory!

You will note that the interior of these vehicles
was painted body color! |

Doors, trunk lid, hood are given as much
attention as the unibody when seeking the perfect paint job! Not
seen in this picture, but the back side of the doors are painted black
(as was the dash) - as the manufacturer intended. |
