Body Work.
The car was stripped to bare metal and block
sanded. |
All fiber glass parts were stripped and a new gel
coat applied. |
Hood, doors, trunk lid were aligned during the
block sanding period. |
Painting - Lime Gold.
The car was taken from the rotisserie and placed
on a dolly for painting. As shown in the picture, back from the
paint shop and still on the dolly it is now ready for assembly.
Please note; the hood, fenders, trunk lid and nose clip are all attached
and aligned prior to the LeMans stripes being masked and painted. |
All interior floor pans and any areas of
question are addressed prior to painting. |
The roll bar is masked off and protected during
painting. |
The interior, trunk and jams are painted first. |
Assembly.
Assembly is most certainly one of the fun parts -
and typically one of the most enjoyable. Months of collecting and
refurbishing finally pay off as you start to put the "puzzle" back
together. |
My best suggestion is always start at the rear.
Install the rear axle first, take it from one who knows get as much
weight as you can on those jack stands!!! If you don't and a buddy comes
over and leans on it -you may be back at the paint shop!!!! |
When all is said and done - it comes down to
detail. |
We still needed sound deadener applied when this
shot was taken, but here it gives you a great opportunity to see
how paint is layered to create the depth (and original application). |
Interior.
Once again, as more assembly takes place the
vehicle takes shape. Please note the AM/Eight Track radio works -
anyone got any good tapes????? |
This one shows the fold down seat in the down
position - and ready for golf clubs!! |
And in the up position it is ready for small
children and a family outing!!!!! |
Installing a headliner should be your starting
point, remembering that the window class and panels are all installed on
top of it. |
